Jack the Pelican is honored to present THE ICELANDIC LOVE CORPORATION.

Iceland’s beloved darlings have recently taken Europe by storm with acclaimed appearances in Basel, Prague, Copenhagen, London, Paris, Berlin, Glasgow, Milan, Helsinki, Vienna and Amsterdam, as well as Norway, Finland, Denmark, Northern Ireland, Sweden, Estonia... and, of course, Iceland. This is their United States solo debut.

Sigrun Hrolfsdottir, Joni Jonsdottir and Eirun Sigurdardottir met in 1996 at the Iceland College of Arts and Crafts. Almost immediately, their appearance on primetime television kissing each other — and the whole of Iceland — catapulted them to national celebrity. Since then, they have charmed the world with their message of love, peace and harmony, in outrageously playful performances that are, well, maybe a bit tongue-in-cheek.

Sculptures exhibited at Jack the Pelican Presents include a giant bald eagle made of panty hose. Also featured are two new performance-based photo series. —In the first, they cast themselves as affluent housewives, who leave their husbands and their world behind, as they wander out together into the rugged outskirts of Reykjavik with only their mink coats, their guitars and hotdogs. In the second, they are sensual mystics in amazing shoes, seeking answers to deep questions in a Ouija board of caviar and champagne. In the video installation called Thank You, they are pixies, ceremoniously returning the internal guts to a cleaned cod (symbolizing Iceland).

On March 28 at 6pm, the Icelandic Love Corporation will unveil a new performance. Whatever it is they plan—and they are not telling—it promises to be the wildest card in the whole deck.
